View the new ocean users’ guide developed by Marine Life Studies, “Marine Mammals of Northern California”. In the spring of 2011, as part of National Geographic Society's Ocean Initiative and Education Programs, Marine Life Studies was awarded a grant to create a field guide about ocean conservation and marine mammals for the central California coast. This was an Ocean Recreation Community Outreach Program. This project was funded by a grant from the National Geographic Education Programs through the Monterey Bay Sanctuary Foundation. The waterproof ocean users’ guide, “Marine Mammals of Northern California”, was developed to educate a broad range of the ocean recreational community. The guides are distributed to those individuals; i.e., boat naturalists, tour boat crews, kayak guides, dive instructors, docents, teachers and others who will use it for their education programs and interface with the general public.
