We record meticulous data which goes into an extensive database to track behavioral and migratory habits of marine life in the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. We share this data with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, other researchers, conservation groups, and students to expand our knowledge base and provide the baseline necessary to implement effective conservation strategies and educational programs.

We're published! identification catalog and field guide
This publication, in conjunction with our 2021 published technical memorandum, Transient Killer Whales of Central and Northern California and Oregon: a Catalog of Photo-identified Individuals, provides additional user friendly natural history information on transient killer whales off the California coast.
Our research on transient killer whales in the California Current Ecosystem is co-managed by NOAA Southwest Fisheries Science Center and the Transient Killer Whale Project.

We're published! noaa technical memorandum
We are pleased to announce our newest publication: "Transient killer whales of central and northern California and Oregon: A catalog of photo-identified individuals". This was published as a NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service Southwest Fisheries Science Center Technical Memorandum.
Our dream of producing a catalog has finally come to fruition! A huge thank you to our co-authors: Southwest Fisheries Science Center, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Marine Mammal Research Unit UBC (MMRU), and The Transient Killer Whale Research Project. |

This is something we are very proud of! We'd also like to thank our volunteers and donors that have supported us since we started in 2006. None of the fieldwork and data collection would have been possible without our village of generous supporters. If you’d like to download an electronic copy of the catalog, please take a short survey, as it will help us gain information about the audiences that we are reaching. At the end of the survey, you will be given a link to download the catalog at no cost.

Please contribute to this important research. By doing so, you become the most critical part of our project by supporting our team to learn more about the many species of cetacean in the MBNMS. We need to research more about the species and the habitat they live in so that we can discover and understand the behavior and ecology, with addition of helping protect them from growing threats.
