Stop by Marine Life Studies booth during Whalefest and join the fun.... See and touch baleen from a blue whale, hold the bone from a gray whale, and see the big eyes of the tiny krill that many whales and dolphins feed on in Monterey Bay. There will be fun, interactive educational activities for adults and kids. Try your hand at being a researcher, identifying individual whales and dolphins. Have your picture taken with the "Bag Monster". Free giveaways including a contest where you can win one of our very own Plastic Police T-shirt bags with our cool Plastic Police Logo. We will have Beautiful Posters - an Award-winning photo of a Gray Whale and Orcas of Monterey Bay - both available for a nominal donation. Jenna Contuchio, Marine Life Studies Education Coordinator, and Peggy Stap, Executive Director, will be speaking at the Museum of Monterey along with other Marine Specialists. Blue Ocean Film Festival will be presenting documentaries all throughout the day at the Museum of Monterey with presentations between films. Jenna will be speaking after the film "Bag It" about Marine Life Studies Plastic Police Initiative and creative ways to stop single use plastics from ending up in our oceans. After the film “In the Wake of Giants” Peggy Stap will be talking about W.E.T. (Whale Entanglement Team) along with Mark DiOrio, Executive Producer of the film. Peggy will also be featuring an amazing photo montage showing the variety of different whales and dolphins in the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary found year-round.
