Simple choices you make everyday can help keep the ocean safe for whales, dolphins, fish, sharks, turtles, and other marine wildlife.
The best way to stop plastic pollution is to REFUSE disposable plastic. Single use and disposable plastic such as straws, plastic bags and water bottles are some of the biggest sources of plastic pollution. REFUSE that straw; REFUSE that plastic bag; REFUSE that water bottle.

REDUCE means to use less of something. This makes less waste. REUSE is to use things over again instead of throwing them out. RECYCLE is to turn things into something else that can be used. BALLOONS: For whales, dolphins, turtles, seals, fish and other marine wildlife, balloons may mean death.
Balloons are ingested by whales, dolphins, turtles, seals, fish and waterfowl, who innocently mistake them for food such as a jelly or squid. Sea turtles and other marine wildlife have been found starved to death with latex balloons blocking their stomachs. The shredded deflated balloon pictured above is just one of many, many balloons we pick up while conducting our whale and dolphin research in the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.
