Monterey County Gives! is a year-end campaign that inspires local philanthropy and benefits a wide array of nonprofits. It is a collaboration between the Monterey County Weekly, the Monterey Peninsula Foundation, and the Community Foundation for Monterey County. At the end of the campaign, each nonprofit receives 100% of their donations, along with a pro rata match on the first $75,000 raised.
We raised $88,324 last year! This was the HIGHEST we’ve ever raised through this campaign for the last decade. We hope to surpass last year’s amount and shoot for the stars! We hope to raise at least $100,000 this year because we had a few unfortunate events that lead to some necessary repairs on our Whale Rescue Research Vessel.

Thank you to all of our challenge gift donors!
Testimonial about Marine Life Studies
"I strongly support Marine Life Studies as this organization has been active for ~15 years, dedicated to researching, conserving, and providing education about marine mammals in Monterey Bay. Their Whale Entanglement Team (WET)® provides an essential service freeing marine mammals entangled in fishing gear. They operate a Whale Rescue Research Vessel, staffed by qualified volunteers to support these marine conservation efforts. Through their education programs, they also strongly support the conservation of marine life. I have witnessed highly accurate and quality presentations by their Executive Director, Peggy Stap. This important non-profit organization requires donations to continue its valuable contribution to the conservation of marine mammals in the greater Monterey Bay region, and is very deserving of support."
