Whalefest Monterey 2013




Join Marine Life Studies on

Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 9 am to 5 pm during Whalefest

at Old Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey, California



Stop by Marine Life Studies Booth..... There will be fun, interactive educational activities for adults and kids. Free giveaways!


  • Try your hand at being a whale researcher, identifying individual whales and dolphins.
  • See and touch baleen from a blue whale, hold the bone from a gray whale, and see the big eyes of the tiny krill that many whales and dolphins feed on in Monterey Bay.
  • Have your picture taken with the "Bag Monster".
  • Free giveaways including a contest where you can win one of our very own Take It To The Streets™ T-shirt cloth bags with our cool Plastic Police Logo.




Take It To The Streets™    (Check-in at Marine Life Studies booth from 10 am to 1 pm, Saturday, January 26, 2013.)


Marine Life Studies will set you up with all the gear for Take It To The Streets™ including gloves, bucket, grabber, data sheet to record trash picked up, and our cool safety vest.

 Make a difference picking up trash along the bike path, downtown, and local neighborhoods. Free giveaways for participating!

Marine Life Studies Presents......

Free Concert featuring Barbara Joy & a Community Children's Chorus

followed by Peggy Stap with Whiskie the Whale Spotter™ at the Wharf Theater,

Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 3 to 4 pm.

Limited seating starting at 2:45 pm.

Barbara Joy and the children will perform songs including her original composition, Don't Let Us Go, a heart-touching song dedicated to the oceans and marine wildlife. 

Barbara Joy is a singer/songwriter/guitarist, and recording artist. She performs in concerts and on stages across the county.










Also appearing is Peggy Stap, Research Director of Marine Life Studies, with her canine research assistant, Whiskie the Whale Spotter™.............   Whiskie will do her whale tricks!

Whiskie helps Peggy and her volunteer research assistants find whales and dolphins out on Monterey Bay!
