Monterey Bay sea lion frenzy enjoyed by all, but especially Whiskie the rescue dog

A phenomenal abundance of sea lions and humpback whales feeding tightly together on schooling anchovies in California's Monterey Bay continues to inspire awe among passengers and scientists.

But nobody seems as excited by this magnificent spectacle as "Whiskie the Whale Spotter," a boxer/shepherd mix who was rescued by Peggy West Stap of Monterey Bay Marine Life Studies, and is a regular on the company's daily expeditions.

In the accompanying footage, captured Tuesday by Capt. Tiffany Thomas, Whiskie the Whale Spotter can be heard expressing what seems to be raw excitement at the sight of so many sea lions, which some people refer to as sea dogs. (Video is best at high volume.)

Whiskie the Whale Spotter was named because she possesses a special talent for alerting the crew to the presence of whales and dolphins.
